EQUIS MAGAZINE

2 Contributors

EQUIS Magazine is a collaborative riso-printed magazine expanding the perimeter of culture, introducing and overlaying the work of multidisciplinary, emerging and established voices. EQUIS (ex, X, E-kees), responds to the malleable nature of “X”, standing as a mathematical variable, altering gender and pronunciation, taking infinite shapes while traversing multiple fields. Along its three issues, EQUIS has featured work regarding the climate crisis, drug legalisation, social justice, territorial exploitation and gender rights, functioning as a platform for a diverse array of voices.

EQUIS is published annually, and although based in London and Mexico City, features the work of people from across the world.

EQUIS VOL.3 : EROTISMO

In "The Double Flame" Octavio Paz defines eroticism as a metaphor of transfigured sexuality revolving around the thirst for otherness. Drawing upon this idea, we proposed to explore the erotic as the main theme for the third edition of EQUIS; focusing on philosophical contemplations concerning the aesthetics of sensuality and questioning the understanding of eroticism as merely the arousal of desire. Consequently, considering imagination as a propelling mechanism of both the erotic and the poetic act, transfiguring sex into ceremony and rite, and language into rhythm and metaphor.
