Intimate Pages is a book collaboration between the artist and actress and writer Alhena Al-Ali Douglas, exploring themes of mental health, relationships, and addiction.“I was struck by the tenderness of the imagery. Each photograph is tactile, fragmentary and extremely intimate. I was drawn to the play between candor and ambiguity, which is punctuated by artist Aarony Bailey’s poetic collaboration with writer Alhena Al-Ali Douglas. A photography project that explores how when masking becomes a sustained practice, over time it can harm mental and physical well-being. “Masquerade succinctly articulates the point that the artist is making about the phenomenon of masking, with humour and immediacy. There is an element of theatricality in the use of staging, poses and locations. The series gives a little window into many different identities, needs and experiences.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A photography series on ideas around memory in the context of Alzheimer’s disease, where the sufferer experiences difficulty recalling individual moments from the past. “I really like how Reliving draws parallels between the light and the exposure of the photograph with fading or distorted memories in a way that is both literal and powerful. The images themselves are also quite beautiful. There is something slightly nostalgic and extremely compassionate about them.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A textile work that addresses the complexity of emotions experienced in a person’s everyday life. “Expressive Textiles deploys what appears to be a very generative, repetitive and almost ritualistic approach to successfully articulate inner emotions, something that is difficult to put into words. It has a wonderfully sculptural and poetic quality.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

The exquisite structure is composed of three shoes that interpret the flow state of yin and yang.

A footwear project that expresses the power of accepting the flowability of the world and help people escape the shackles of thoughts and return to the present moment. “I am drawn to the yin and yang symmetry of WUWEI’s design and the footwear as artisanal objects. They look to have been crafted in a beautiful and seamless way. I’m interested in what this says about how adorn ourselves and use clothing to reflect who we are and what we feel.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A set of lampshades inspired by idleness and daydreaming, something usually frowned upon even though it is scientifically proven to be beneficial for our minds. “I’m struck by the texture and tactility of Head in the Clouds. The lampshades seem like they would not just be glorious to look at but also to touch and interact with. I like the romanticising, whimsical ideas conveyed in their visualisation of daydreaming.’ – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A 160-page graphic novel presenting a semi-fictionalised account of the artist&#39;s brother’s experiences at a therapeutic boarding school from 2019 to 2020.“The Book of Henry works with narrative in a really interesting way, shifting between multiple perspectives, both the artist’s and her brother&#39;s. The graphic novel, incorporating drawing and text feels to me like a very attuned mode of telling this particular story. The work also feels like an enormous labour of love.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A fine art piece that expresses the pain experienced by people with eating disorders.“One Day is a challenging and visually arresting artwork. It is beautiful, ordered and symmetrical. It articulates something traumatic, while offering a kind of peace. A difficult and interesting work.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A series of kinetic incense burners designed to generate calm within a space. “Mood Swing is a sculptural work that is so tantalising in its appeal to multiple senses. In its movement and scent, it asks something of people, inviting them to engage in a mediative mood within a space.”    – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

Like physical wounds, mental wounds heal leaving traces. This project looks at the enduring trauma experienced by Ukranians who have been held captive by Russia.“I’m drawn to the visuals in Scar Tissue, which sit between art and fashion. The outfit feels like a wearable sculpture, alluding to bandages and an idea of healing. But there is an element of uncertainty, too. They could be undergarments or support garments. That ambiguity is interesting.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

Architectural design for spaces of healing at an East London site for individuals support users suffering from ill mental health such as depression, anxiety and extreme stress. “Sanatorium in the Boathouse Docklands aligns so closely what we are attempting to do at Hospital Rooms in designing spaces with people who have a mental health diagnosis in mind. It’s nice to see somebody thinking that through and coming up with lots of interesting different approaches for how that space can behave to complement the other care that you might receive.”  – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

An installation composed of laser-printed acetate sheets, layered to create forms that symbolise the places and spaces where the artist&#39;s personal hoarding has occurred.“Through a void, barely is a powerful exploration of hoarding. I like the notion that the denser the pile of objects, the denser the acetate imagery, the greater the erasure and further the viewer is taken into this void that that the artist is communicating. Formally, I think these are interesting visual sculptures.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms

A stop-motion and 2D animation explores the activities of the artist&#39;s &#39;inner voice&#39;, which run riot in the most bizarre places or, most often, when trying to fall asleep.“The Silent Mind is beautiful and poetic. I really love the approach to storytelling that traverses multiple types of animation and visual communication to explore lots of different emotional experiences. The stop motion scenes at that beginning and end of the piece are particularly evocative.” – Niamh White, co-founder of Hospital Rooms
