Profile picture of Tomio Shota Mitomi

My experience in collaborating with and across the disciplines of theatre from opera, musical, dance, drama, concert and literature have led me where I am today. I have habitually exhibited my own art works while simultaneously working in the field of physical theatre.

While working as a scenographer, I have used various non-standard theatre spaces such as art galleries, ruins and the outdoors. I like to explore works inspired by history and from them, form a connection with my works. History is not only legitimate, academic national history but could also be any small passage of time in my life.

During the process of my creative development, my practice evolved from simply fine art to my current field of extended theatre, however, the process of making fine art is always in mind and influences my theatre making. I will continue to develop making theatre/performance works through the eyes of an art practitioner.
