What is an obedient child? In the eyes of Chinese parents, being obedient means being a good child. However, as children deviate from the paths set by their parents, they often face pressure and expectations from their families. This pressure attempts to steer them back onto the predetermined path, limiting their freedom to develop independently.
This series is inspired by fish and weaving, and innovative fabrics and elements of school uniforms are used. Techniques like paint spraying on leather and PU materials depict the state of fish scales being scraped off, using a mix of black and color, and pollution effects to highlight the inner conflict and struggle children experience when their ideas clash with their parents’. This series aims to express the inner turmoil and struggle children face during their growth, exploring their courage and determination in finding their own path.
