A collection generated through personal and contemporary societies’ experiences with paranoia. Investigating irrational thinking caused by the feeling of persistent danger and one’s fear of losing control. the collection not everything is how it appears is an artistic response to exposure therapy for assisting people’s experiences with feeling a lack of security and uncontrollable discomfort.
Workwear and sportswear garments are combined and skewed using high visibility to make the wearer stand out, pushing fears of feeling exposed in unsafe situations. Unconventionality being at the core of FKMJ, unconventional methodologies like resin pouring and lamination processes are incorporated into construction and functionality. Approaching a sensitive concept in a light-hearted fashion, the practicalities and purposes of the archetypes have been challenged, using the resin and fabric lamination to create sweat and rain effects. This collection is an illusionary experience that questions what is and what is not on the garments causing the wearer and viewer to feel uneasy, questioning the clothing’s intent and practicalities.
