Anatolian Breeze captures the essence of Anatolian village fashion, infusing it with the playful charm reminiscent of fishermen's simplistic aesthetic. This collection harmonizes the carefree spirit of Anatolian fashion with subtle hints of fishermen's masculinity, creating a bridge between tradition and contemporary allure. Each piece reimagines traditional attire through a lens that celebrates the vibrant complexity of modern women. The extensive use of floral prints, a significant cultural influence in these villages, serves as a cornerstone of this collection.

Throughout the creation process, I have collaborated with Anatolian women, empowering local communities and fostering a sense of pride in their crafts. For instance, the sweater in Look 2 was hand-knit by Emine Urengil from Eastern Anatolia, and the floral embroideries were hand-crafted by Fatma Karakurt from the village of Kayseri. This collection is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Anatolia and a celebration of its contemporary reimagining.

Final work

Look 1: Wrapping Trench

The 'Wrapping Trench' is made using specialized waxed linen fabric, drawing inspiration from the abundance of wrapping headscarves within villages combined with the materiality of fishermen.

Look 1: 'Tailored Salvar' & 'His Shirt'

Beneath the trenchcoat, look 1 features loose tailored pants, a reinterpretation of traditional harem salvars. The pants are paired with a loosely fitted shirt, buttoned asymetrically.

Look 2: Floral Dungerees

Look 2 is inspired by a fishermen's aesthetic. The oversized waxed cotton dungerees are paired with a hand-knit floral embroidered sweater made in collaboration with village women in Anatolia.
