I grew up in a small seaside town in North Devon, but have lived in London for the last three years to complete my Fine Art degree. My practice looks into the visual exploration of the digital realm through the lens of contemporary artwork. This involves a combination of digital and physical painting and animation techniques to facilitate a discourse around the nature of painting post-internet.

My showcase encompasses the last three years of research and enquiry into my field of interest. This showcase aims to question visual perception of the digital realm and expand on the ‘in-between’ virtual space that exists within the technologies so prevalent in society today. Through recent experiments with digital video editing, my practice deals with the relationship between human perception and immersive technological environments, exploring how this phenomenon can be expressed artistically. Continuing to use the canvas as the vessel for my works has kept my practice rooted within a painterly context. In letting the material techniques inform the immaterial and vice versa, a continuous cycle of reuse is created. Combining the canvas with digital painting methods has aided my desire to question the physical boundaries of technologically based artworks and enabled me to create a strong dialogue between the aspects of the digital and physical. My current work places emphasis on the expansion of the seemingly finite aspects of the digital realm and providing an insight into how these unknown spaces could be perceived and depicted within an immersive exhibition setting. I am interested in how individuals can physically experience digitally based paintings through methods of projection. Through the exploration of painterly techniques and their relation to the digital world, my practice aims to expand on the capabilities of painting as a medium post-digital.
