Hyperart Thomasson is a type of conceptual art, named by Akasegawa Genpei in 1980s. it refers to a useless relic/structure that has been preserved as a part of a building/ the built environment, which has become a piece of art itself.

These pieces were incorporated into garments, using traditional craftsmanship to repurpose them for new everyday use. This made the clothing appear both practical and absurd, amusing the audience.
