This collection explores feminist approaches to craft. Thematically the visuals of armour, chainmail and charms/tokens from the medieval period are explored through the lens of women in craft as a wider concept. This collection aims to provoke reflection around women as the original craftspeople and the power they hold as makers historically and in the present day. The essence of craft is celebrated contemporarily through cross-practice collaboration, drawing upon natural dying techniques using foraged plants, textile design collaboration, ceramic hardware collaboration and jewellery collaboration.

Creative writing features in the project as an immersive tool and reminder of the historical context of the garments. Simulated characters (clients) in the story act as muses for my models who are integral to the message behind the collection. My models identify as gender non-conforming feminine-presenting individuals and cutting for trans bodies is explored. Designing, cutting and making for trans bodies and genderqueer people is something that remains relatively untouched in the bespoke tailoring industry which is something I am hoping to change in alignment to my values as a creative. Sustainability is another core value I hold in my practice and throughout this project only sustainable choices have been made.
