Celebrating humanity's innate desire for light and its sacred status in human culture, Xinyi Gao has designed a collection of jewellery that explores light as emotional support to enhance a wearer’s inner strength. Bold chunks of vibrant jewel-coloured glass radiate strong beams of light, creating overlapping colours on the wearer’s skin giving visual power and an emotional lift.

Gao was inspired by the interior atmosphere of Le Corbusier’s 20th century, Chapel De Ronchamp, where the windows are set deep as jewels and lights spill through creating an intense and spiritual atmosphere. The contrast between this intense quality and the austere white walls of the building is reflected in the volumes and structures of bracelets and rings.

To ensure maximum light transmission through the glass, Gao designed geometric tracery settings with fine strong metal frames. Within which two adjacent pieces of glass form an arching angle like folded paper, generating colour in the space between the glass and the wearer’s skin.
