Fighting Temporality

Hi! My name Is Bror Sonne, I am a documentary photographer looking at the interactions between the human and non-human, Earth and Us.

I enjoy creating work that is engaged with deep thoughts, exploring the limitations and possibilities of the photographic medium and visual narrative.

My aim is to find visual representations for our environmental situation, utilizing non-fiction photography.

It is of my opinion that through the syntax generated between systems of information and photographic narrative, one can expand and re-wire the minds of the viewers, so that they can better understand vast forces.

What I intend to generate with my work is a better understanding of sublime concepts, or an increased awareness towards abstract threats operating on an inhuman scale.

I wish to demonstrate the scale of the forces that are shaping Earth, in the process giving rise to an increased sensibility towards the greatest problem of all: climate change.

“Fighting Temporality” is a photographic memoir recollecting what I saw over the last year whilst pondering upon the transience of existence, as a result of exploring the concept of temporality. Finding reflections of my research in reality, mainly by looking for traces of the past, written in the landscape, I touch on notions of transience, ephemerality and memory, deep time and sublime timescales.

Incorporating existential thought, I interpreted how ideas of time can intermingle with the possibilities, and limitations, of photographic narrative, non-fiction essay and graphic elements combined, the result of this communicatory effort is Fighting Temporality, come see what I saw!
