Carving A Plan is a placemaking cultural centre that aims to enhance interaction among the artists, the public, and boat-dwelling communities in Fish Island, Hackney Wick, London. It addresses the socio-economic division caused by gentrification and seeks to prevent the potential displacement of artist communities. The project provides creative opportunities for individuals who lack access to multidisciplinary facilities, fostering arts-based conversations and strengthening creative integration within the area's social and economic fabric. By activating existing regional funds, the project ensures its genuine potential for implementation. Leveraging a waterfront location, the proposal activates under-utilised sites of historical significance, carving through the landscape and layering the terrain with acupuntured intervention- promoting integration, creativity and community interaction.
