Bits

Bits is a short experimental animation exploring the beautiful absurdity of life on earth. Adopting the visual language of retro scientific illustration and early learning, the visuals play with the semiotics of diagrams to explore a surreal take on science, existence and education.

The film is nonlinear and led by visual associations, combining visuals of biology with themes of surrealism and science-fiction. Exploring reality through an absurd and surreal lens led to my concept for the film to be centred around ‘zooming’ into familiar every-day objects, and exploring the microscopic ‘bits’ that exist inside everything.
