Qiulai Tang

This project is a book related to the feminist expression of heteronormative romantic love narratives in contemporary Chinese female-oriented urban dramas. In these dramas, on the one hand, the image of the independent woman is portrayed, but on the other hand, the suppression of the image of the independent woman and the expression of traditional female scripts are presented, and this contradiction is evident especially in the romance narratives. Therefore, through this project, the aim is to critique the superficial feminist expressions in contemporary Chinese female-oriented urban dramas, and to show the contradictions and insincere content of the portrayal of independent women in TV dramas through romance narratives.
