Zihan Feng

Zihan’s main collection is inspired by the ways consumerism influences social perception through staged social media images and the idolization of athletic perfection, often associated with elite status. Observing this trend, particularly in China where parents enroll their children in "noble sport" training for social mobility. This project delves into the aesthetics of equestrian, fencing, and golf attire, examining the pursuit of "perfect dynamics" and environmental interaction.

The development process incorporate sports aesthetics and the golden spiral in the pattern-cutting process to achieve a dynamic 3D flow. This approach allowed the designer to transform sports equipment into artistic, wearable forms. She deconstructed some second-hand sportswear and sports equipment such as saddles, chaps, and padded shorts. Lightweight materials like stretch fabrics and mesh articulate the body's motion, emphasizing the spatial relationship between the body and its surroundings. The detail work includes pad inserts, leather embossing, 3D printing, and positioning printing.
