I would like to present my final collection portfolio and lookbook. My collection is one that explores the relationship between fashion and music and the way that one and the other have directly influenced and informed each other across almost the entirety of the last century. This collection is one that is both a celebration and homage to the characters and zeitgeists that are embedded within my favourite subcultures and music scenes, focusing on artists such as David Bowie, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Patti Smith, Keith Richards and Pete Doherty to name just a few. This collection is called Dandy in the Underworld, a reference to the T.Rex album that soundtracked much of my time making this collection. It is about exploring and understanding why people choose to wear the clothes that they do. It is about discovering why some people look so unique in a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt and why certain individuals over the years have directly, or indirectly, changed the course of fashion and subculture by throwing on their girlfriend’s shirt before heading onstage in front of thousands of impressionable teenagers.
