Julia Wang

Profile picture of Julia Wang

Julia Wang is a jewellery designer with an undergraduate degree in Fashion Jewellery Design from the London College of Fashion (LCF). Her profound interest in fine jewellery is influenced by her family and academic background. Julia views her life as a fairy tale, with herself as the protagonist, and this perspective deeply informs her work. She adeptly integrates her personal experiences and narratives into her designs, skillfully combining metals and diverse materials to imbue her jewellery with a unique sense of whimsy and storytelling. Julia's creations reflect a blend of meticulous craftsmanship with imaginative artistry, capturing the essence of her life story and transforming it into wearable art. Her work is characterized by its ability to evoke emotion and nostalgia, making each piece not just a piece of jewellery but a narrative that comes to life.

This project draws inspiration from my childhood memories of the small amusement park, which served as our fantasylands. For adults, these parks are no longer merely physical spaces, but rather, they evoke dreams of childhood. Over time, while these amusement parks may have been supplanted by larger entertainment venues, they retain their magic and imagination in our memories.

When you sleep, do you dream of the sky, the universe, the stars… or perhaps that cherished funfair hidden deep within your childhood memories?

Lost in Dreamland, inspired by Julia Wang's childhood memories of the funfair, which used to be our magical kingdom.

Julia creates wearable art installations that transform elements into glamorous jewellery, evoking nostalgic dreams. Through interaction, the work guides adults to follow their inner potential consciousness into childhood dreams. Participants find treasures, relive memories and find innocence in the exploration. Star symbols stand for the theme of the funfair, which aim to add a dreamy nostalgia.
